The Accountant is a movie that already seems like a great movie with an impressive cast. For starters there is Ben Affleck, Anna Kendrick, Jeffrey Tambor, J.K. Simmons and Jon Bernthal along with many others. This movie was one that had plenty of twists and turns to keep any fan interested. In the movie, Christian Wolff (Ben Affleck) plays an accountant, who is a math genius, and deals with the world's most dangerous people trying to make sure that their money is safe, and no one can touch it. Eventually he is called in to help out a place called “Human Robotics”, after one of their employees Dana Cummings (Anna Kendrick) uncovers that they have been losing money. While US Treasury Director Raymond King (J.K. Simmons) is closing in on him, Christian becomes involved in a conspiracy that seems to reach all parts of his life. Christian must get to the center of the conspiracy while trying to protect his own life. This movie kept many people in the theater (along with myself) anxious for what will happen next. There were a few parts of the movie that took me out of the moment. These parts of the movie and made me question what was going on and wonder how does this person just know what to do, but overall I enjoyed the movie. Ben Affleck did a great job in the lead role, often delving so deep into the role that his representation is scary. Anna Kendrick seemed like a forced part of the movie to me. She seemed like she was added in because the director wanted Affleck’s character to have some sort of a love interest, and it was not done well. Her parts felt uncomfortable and unnecessary. However, J.K Simmons felt like a powerful addition to the movie. He seemed perfect for the role and as the movie went on you began to feel more connected to his character. Then there is Jon Bernthal. Call it typecasting, but he always seems to play a violent character that has very little connections. That being said, I still enjoyed his role in the movie and how he added to a great plot twist. Lastly, there was Cynthia Addai-Robinson. She played Marybeth Medina in the movie, who was part of the investigation along with J.K. Simmons. For some reason her role didn’t appeal to me either. She shows up one day in J.K.Simmons’s office, and with no training, she does everything that Simmons couldn’t figure out in months on the case. Besides the two forced characters, the rest of the movie was done very well and enjoyable. Overall, I would recommend the movie to anyone looking for a good action movie/thriller.
