The Indianapolis Colts have been having a rough season so far.
Their star quarterback Andrew Luck has been injured, forcing them to bring in the backup quarterback Matt Hasselbeck who is the oldest quarterback (40) in the NFL.
Hasselbeck almost missed his game against the Texans and spent two days with and intravenous (IV), hoping to recover in time for the game the Colts ended up winning 27-20.
Hasselbeck was admitted to the emergency room and as Colts coach Pagano said he was “literally on his deathbed Monday and Tuesday and mustered enough to come in on Wednesday and practice.”
After being sick and beating a team to bring your team to 3-2 is quite a task. After the game Hasselbeck gave a concerning quote saying “I’ve got nothing left probably.” If it wasn’t for the news that Andrew Luck is healthy and will be back for the game against the Patriots, things would not be looking for the Colts.
The Colts still are at the top of the AFC South with a 3-2 record. Although it is winning record, they have had favorable match ups against teams it seems that have been giving up points easily. Now that a fully healthy Luck will be back in, it seems he might try to redeem himself after a 45-7 loss to the Patriots in the AFC Championship game last season.
With Luck being the signal caller for the game, this will surely provide a highly viewed and talked about result. The Colts have been missing the effectiveness of what Luck sees on the field and how he is able to get rid of the ball quickly. The real test of how Luck will be for the rest of the season is by seeing how he reacts to a Patriots defense that kept the Cowboys from scoring a single touchdown last game.
Boomer Esiason of CBS’s The NFL Talk says “[The Patriots] have the best team in the league right now, and the Colts are scuffling.”
Many sports reports such as Esiason are saying that even though Luck is back, the Colts will have a hard time trying to stop Brady and the Patriots. One thing is for sure, this Thursday at 8:30 will be a hyped up game.
